Near Kiyomizu Temple, in a quiet location, Gojozaka Machiya has all the charm of an old traditional Kyoto townhouse, with luxurious modern facilities and comfort. Fully renovated, and located within min of convenience store and bus stops, it is the perfect base to visit the city.
This large house (over 90 m2) has just been fully renovated. It features 2 Japanese tatami mat bedrooms (sleeping on futon) and 1 Western-style bedroom with one double bed. In the kitchen dining room, we have a large dining table for 10 persons. A large tatami mat living room opens to a private Japanese garden, and is as it is custom in Japan, used as an additional bedroom.
On the ground floor, the house features a traditional wooden bathroom with bathtub, and a shower room upstairs. It has two toilets. It is also equipped with a fully automatic All-In-One Washer / Dryer.
Everything has been designed to be very convenient for a larger group (spacious enough for up to 10 people).
As our guest, you have unlimited access to super fast (optical fiber) internet access via Wi-Fi throughout the house. And you'll be able to enjoy unlimited movies with Netflix (or use the Blu-Ray Disk player) with the large (60 in) flat panel HDTV.
The fully equipped modern kitchen will pleased anyone who wants to cook at home. A large selection of cooking utensils, an induction cooktop, dish washer, microwave oven / oven, all kind of appliances such as rice cooker, toaster, blender, electric kettle, regular coffee machine, and dishes, plates, glasses, cutlery for ten guests. The setting is particularly convenient for people who stay for a longer period and who want to eat at home. And of course, you'll find all the basics such as salt-pepper, oil, sauce, soja, etc.

Interaction with Guests
We're always available for any help necessary for information, reservation, advice, etc. We love Kyoto and like to share our interest with our guests.
We also have a dedicated site (mykyotomachiya) full of information and pictures to enable our guests to prepare their stay and fully explore and enjoy this wonderful city.
Other Things to Note
We have decorated the house with old traditional Japanese art crafts such as a Samurai armor, traditional wedding Kimono, Japanese dolls, Noh mask, protective Gods against fire (Hotei-san), etc. for a more refined atmosphere.
You'll experience the traditional way of living of the people of Kyoto and enjoy a unique cultural experience, with all the modern comfort you can wish for.

We do not allow smoking and we do not allow pets.
Guests should be careful not to make excessive noise when accessing or leaving the house -- any complaint from our neighbors may result in the cancelation of their stay without refund.
We hope to have again the pleasure to welcome you.
We were able to walk to the Kyoto station for exercise (about 25 min) but we're also able to hail taxis near the house then we had luggage.
The house has had a lot of love, care, and attention put into its remodeling, and the feel of old machiyas has been well integrated in the work. We would love to stay again the next time we are in Kyoto!
